One bright morning, Winnie the Pooh woke up with a growly tummy and a happy thought.
“Today,” he said to himself, “I shall do something Very Important.”
He wasn’t quite sure what it was yet, but it felt important all the same.
So he set off through the Hundred Acre Wood, humming a little hum, until he met Rabbit, who was rushing about with a list in his paw.
“Good morning, Rabbit,” said Pooh. “You seem very busy.”
“I am,” said Rabbit. “There’s cleaning to do, errands to run, and everything to fix before lunch! No time for standing about.”
Pooh thought about this. “Oh,” he said. “Then I shan’t stand. I shall sit.”And so he sat down on a log.
Rabbit stopped and blinked. “What are you doing?”
“I’m thinking,” said Pooh. “And waiting to see what happens next.”
Rabbit frowned, but then his ears twitched. The breeze rustled the trees, and a little bird began to sing. For a moment, Rabbit forgot his list and listened.
“It’s quite a nice day,” he said softly.
“It usually is,” said Pooh. “If you stop to notice.”
Rabbit looked at his list, then folded it up. “Maybe I’ll start after lunch,” he said.
Pooh smiled. “A Very Good Idea,” he said. “Things are often easier after a bit of honey and a little rest.”
And so they sat together, doing nothing very much at all — and finding it rather wonderful.
Pooh’s Wisdom:
“Don’t be too busy being busy. Sometimes doing nothing leads to the very best something.” 🐻🍯
