Support your body’s natural healing capacity.

Naturopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It blends traditional natural therapies with modern scientific knowledge, aiming to treat the root cause of illness, not just the symptoms.

Herbs and Supplements

What is naturopathy?

Guided by core principles such as treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—naturopathy emphasizes prevention, patient education, and the use of natural, non-invasive treatments. Naturopaths work closely with individuals to develop personalised care plans that often include herbal medicine, nutritional guidance, lifestyle and stress management strategies, detoxification, and sometimes functional testing to uncover underlying imbalances.

Naturopathy is commonly used to support a wide range of chronic and lifestyle-related health conditions. These may include digestive issues like bloating and IBS, stress and anxiety, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, skin conditions, sleep disturbances, immune system support, and inflammation-related pain. The goal of naturopathy is not only to manage or resolve existing health concerns, but also to promote long-term wellness by supporting the body’s self-healing capabilities and restoring internal balance.

Private Health
Insurance rebates

On April 14, 2025, the Australian Government announced that private health insurers may once again offer rebates for certain natural therapies, including naturopathy. This decision follows the Natural Therapies Review 2024, led by Chief Medical Officer Professor Michael Kidd AO, which evaluated the clinical effectiveness of 16 previously excluded therapies. The review concluded that seven therapies—naturopathy, Western herbal medicine, yoga, Pilates, tai chi, shiatsu, and the Alexander technique—demonstrated sufficient evidence of clinical benefit to warrant reinstatement of private health insurance coverage. However, nine other therapies, such as aromatherapy and homeopathy, remain excluded due to insufficient evidence. While the government has lifted the prohibition, it is now up to individual insurers to decide whether to include these therapies in their coverage. Insurers opting to do so will collaborate with the natural therapies sector to establish provider credentialing and coverage details.
